"Start The Rot." This song acts as an introduction to the overarching theme of the album and serves as a powerful commentary on the concept of decay and its implications for humanity. Drawing inspiration from "The Nothing" in "The NeverEnding Story," the track paints a vivid picture of destruction, where "the rot" consumes everything in its path. With its heavy instrumentation and evocative lyrics, it grips the listener with the notion that we stand on the brink of our own demise. The accompany

With Start The Rot, DEKAY, an industrial metal band, delivers an album that impresses with its intensity, its coldness. Faithful to the aesthetics of the genre, this project addresses universal themes with uncompromising brutality, while immersing you in an abrasive sound experience.
The album begins with "Dannsa Na Cuileag", a hypnotic instrumental introduction. By choosing a title meaning "the dance of the flies" in Scottish Gaelic, DEKAY immediately puts you face to face with the notion of decomposition that is displayed in the title of the album Start The Rot. This song, dominated by deep bass and a heavy atmosphere, reminds you that life is ephemeral and its inevitable decline. You are already on the verge of discomfort.
With "Social Degradation", the album takes an openly political turn. This incisive title denounces the excesses of the American government and the societal fractures it generates. Supported by sharp riffs and a relentless pace, it directly addresses the frustrations of a population in search of justice. The words, brutal and direct, call for mobilization against the forces that divide and oppress. A title animated by a beautiful spirit of revolt, as you can know with groups like Ministry.
"Fear (Within)" explores the meanders of anxiety, highlighting universal internal struggles. DEKAY describes how fears, although intangible, paralyze and consume. Musically, the piece is distinguished by an oppressive rhythm and tortured vocal lines that brilliantly illustrate the mental battles evoked in the lyrics. In turn, dare to face your own torments.
The cover of "Heresy" by Nine Inch Nails is a vibrant tribute to the greatest music group there is (I assume this personal opinion). Accompanied by Hyde Von Hitchcock, this revisited title retains the corrosive essence of the original while integrating perfectly into the general atmosphere of the album. Hyde Von Hitchcock's voice adds a different touch to the atmosphere of the song, illustrating how DEKAY appropriates his inspirations to enrich his own artistic universe.
The title song "Start The Rot" immerses you in the heart of the subject: the inevitable degradation, both individually and collectively. DEKAY says he was inspired by "The Nothing" in The NeverEnding Story. The piece paints an apocalyptic picture where "rot" consumes everything in its path. The production, dense and metallic, reinforces the idea of an inexorable collapse. The clip further amplifies the visual and emotional impact of the song.
With "The Folly Of Man", DEKAY explores the repercussions of humanity's destructive choices. This title questions our ability to break the historical cycles that lead us to ruin. The incisive words and oppressive arrangements reflect the urgency of changing course before it is too late.
"MINDFUCK" focuses on betrayal and toxic relationships. Carried by rough riffs and stripped-down production, the song expresses a raw rage in the face of lies and manipulations. DEKAY addresses directly individuals who have abused his trust, offering a raw and undetoured catharsis. A title with more electronic elements and several levels of textures on the sing.
The album ends with "Paradise", a song that juxtaposes the idea of a paradise with the image of a devastated world where only flies and larvae thrive. This cynical ending, marked by sarcasm, which pushes you to reflect on the ultimate consequences of our collective choices. The contrast between the irony of the title and the seriousness of the words underlines the absurdity of the human quest for power and control.
An impeccable production for a chilling vision: The album, produced by DEKAY and distributed via Sliptrick Records, has a cold and sharp rendering, like a sharp chopper. The rich and complex sound textures alternate between raw violence and moments of controlled tension, offering a perfect balance between chaos and respect for codes.
With Start The Rot, DEKAY offers an album that is both timeless and anchored in contemporary concerns. Through universal themes and a musical performance to highlight, the group delivers a work that will seduce both fans of indud metal and those in search of an experience that skins and stirs.
